Buckingham Palace was a sight to behold. We could only take pictures of the outside. In fact, one man who took out his camera and took a picture almost got tackled by a security officer. They stood by him and made him erase the photos.
Since this place is a working palace there are over 400 employees. They hire in summer help for when they open the palace to visitors. I imagine there is no other way for the royal family to financially survive and function with out the paying summer visitors. It was neat to see everything inside.
The park outside Buckingham. It went from horribly rainy to sunshine and cloud free skies in just minutes. That's London for you.
The streets of London
Afternoon tea at the Savoy. It was quite the experience. We loved every minute of it and savored the tastes, embiance and sounds it had to offer. I had looked for so many places to have a decent afternoon tea and I kept coming back to this one. When I told Gretchen I had decided on this place, she said, "OOHHH, the SAVOY!" I responded, "Oh it must be a good place if you've heard of it." And of course, it was an expensive treat but oh the treat was worth it. It was an extremely enjoyable experience.
At the Southcenter enjoying Verdi's Requiem. It was quite loud where we sat but luckily we got a private box to ourselves!
At the end of the night we called an Uber (rather than using the tube) because it had been a long day. We ended up walking the most on this day, I believe. Gretchen was a trooper and we crashed in our beds wtih gratitude in our hearts for such a day full of fun experiences.
